Funeral Arrangements Are Pending

Robert W. Miller

SAVANNAH - Robert W. Miller of Savannah, GA and longtime resident of Syracuse, NY died February 18, 2015 after a brief illness. Robert (Bob) was born August 25, 1937 in Saranac Lake, NY.  He graduated from Albany College of Pharmacy in 1959 and married Mary Lee Carr that same year.  They moved to Syracuse, NY where Bob worked for fifty years as a pharmacist.  He was the proprietor of Miller’s Pharmacy, Sylvan Beach Pharmacy, and finished his long career at Rite Aid.  Bob was an honest businessman who knew the value of hard work.  Whether making a hot fudge sundae in the days of soda fountains or giving advice in the age of computerization, he loved serving his customers.  Bob enjoyed dry martinis, Lucky Strikes, rare steaks, decadent desserts, fine automobiles, and conversation with friends and family.

Bob leaves his wife Mary Lee, son R. Keith and spouse Nancy of Simsbury, CT; son Mark W. and spouse Marianne of Savannah, GA; grandchildren Thomas, Kathryn (Zhizhou), Rebekah, and Dominic.  His brother, Paul, also survives him. His sister Barbara Gray, and brother John Miller predeceased him.

A memorial will be held in early spring.  In lieu of flowers, online donations in Bob’s memory may be made to Albany College of Pharmacy, Albany, NY or via mail at: Director of Annual Giving and Alumni Relations in care of Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, Office of Institutional Advancement, 106 New Scotland Avenue, Albany, NY 12208.

I served with Bob in the National Guard and remember many late night breakfasts at the Miller home after meetings. Our friendship continued after that and I enjoyed many visits with Bob, Lee and the boys. Although we have been out of touch in recent years, those memories will be with me forever. My heartfelt condolences go out to the family.

My deepest condolence to the Miller family for the loss of your dear loved one. During this most difficult time, may your hearts be comforted by Jehovah God's promise to wipe out every tear from our eyes, and death will be no more.(Rev. 21:4). Also during the days to come, may Mr. Miller's sweet memories fill your hearts with joy and peace.

We're so sorry to hear about Bob. We remember fondly the quiet guy with the dry and wry sense of humor who never failed to make us laugh. We enjoyed sharing a toddy or two at Lion's Club events, and recall with fondness our time serving "Uncle Sam." Bob Miller and Bob Petch are now reunited, probably causing some kind of mischief, just like in days gone by. Don and Barb Crossett
